IMRAN KHAN

Imran Khan is a Dutch-Pakistani singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to fame in 2007 after the success of his first single "Ni Nachleh".

 

Khan was signed to Prestige Records in late 2007, and released the single "Ni Nachleh" on the label. His second single, "Amplifier" was released on 13 July 2009. It received two million views on YouTube in one week and as of 3rd November 2015 has received more than 50 million hits. A few months later, on 30 November 2009, Prestige Records published the track 'Bewafa', which has a total of over 10 Million hits. In July 2009, Khan's first album, Unforgettable, was released, produced by Eren E and Hakan Ozan. In 2011, Khan started his own label "IK Records."

 

PANJABI HIT SQUAD

Panjabi Hit Squad have been right at the forefront of British-Asian music since their formation in the summer of 2001. The Southall based DJ/Producer collective (Dee, Rav, and Amo) were originally separate entities in the UK's vibrant Bhangra club scene, but decided to join forces to create a new genre that fused Bhangra with Urban Street music,'Desi Beats'.Markie

 

 When they aren't hosting their Radio 1 show, Dee and Rav continue to be ambassadors of Desi and Away from Bollyhood beats. They have collaborated with Jay Sean on the remix to 'Ride It' and Raghav on 'My Kinda Girl'. Their song "Kuriyeh" appeared in the 2008 Hollywood film, The Accidental Husband. In an article in Music Week magazine, Panjabi Hit Squad were named amongst the top 10 UK Urban DJ's.

 

THE SKA VENGERS

Ska Vengers hail from Delhi, India and arrive in London on the back of their burgeoning popularity in India and on the UK Festival scene. The Vengers play a unique blend of ska rhythms fused with Dub, Punk, Jazz and Rap which combines to create a sound that can’t fail to move your feet. Their original songs tell stories and provide a commentary on relationships, politics and history. They have collaborated with the original bhangra-muffin Apache Indian and have played at the request of Arundhati Roy and for 2000 prisoners at Asia’s largest jail, Tihar.

ZACK KNIGHT

British Asian singer-songwriter Zack first started out writing for household names such as Tinie Tempah and Ginuwine. Influenced early in his career by the likes of Usher, Boyz II Men and Michael Jackson, he has since developed his own very distinctive style of mixing popular Bollywood songs with R&B which has proven extremely popular with UK audiences.

The Hussain Brothers

are a UK based Qawwali Group that are veteran Mela and Festival performers. Group leader Ustad Imran Ahmed was taught by his grandfather the late Haji Ustad Latafat Hussain Khan who taught many other celebrated artists such as the Sabri Brothers, music director Nanashad Ali and Bashir Khan amongst many others. They sing a variety of styles of Qawwali and are famous for incorporating many different languages into the songs such as Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Farsi. Qawwali for the uninitiated is extraordianry devotional singing accompanied by classical music. Qawwali was made popular in the west by the late great Nasrat Fateh Ali Khan, who collaborated with Peter Gabriel and performed live at WOMAD Festivals around the world.

Raxstar

Raxstar is a British Rapper from Luton Town who rst came to prominence
in 2005 with his producing partner Sunit. Their breakout single “Keep It Undercover” documented young love and the internal con ict when choosing between following your heart and

going against parental expectations or conforming. Songs such as Queen (w/ Zack Knight), Poison, Signs (w/ Mickey Singh) have led Raxstar to tour all over the UK as well as internationally. More power collaborations are in the works that will culminate in the release of his debut album.

Dhol Academy

The International Dhol drumming group based in East London have performed at Glastonbury, Notting Hill carnival and the Queen Elizabeth park, to name a few. They guarantee to bring exhilarating rhythms of sound with exploding beats of passion,

enthralling enticing and uplifting the masses in their drumming extravaganza.

Pooja Angra

Pooja Angra is one of the most respected  Asian singer in the U.K. who performs various music genres ranging from Hindustani classical, Semi-classical, Devotional, Bollywood, Sufi, Ghazal to Punjabi folk. Pooja has learnt from highly acclaimed musicians. Having attained a Doctorate in Indian music, Pooja constantly applies her classical music expertise in various genres. Pooja will be accompanied by her brother Karan Rana who is highly talented and has mesmerized the audiences across the U.K. by his vocal range and improvisations. .

RK Square 

RK SQUARE hail from Plumstead in South East London and were formed in 2013. They play exciting and melodic alternative rock with Nepali vocals.

Asad Shan 

ZEE London Mela will be hosted by ZEE’s very own presenter, fashion model and actor; Asad Shan – be ready for a fun and interactive session and come along to the ZEE stand for selfies and autographs with the celebs. Also grab your free ZEE goodie bag and line up for free henna designs and watch out for the Zee TV show Out & About crew filming all the activities on the day.

We are so happy to announce our first main stage host for the ZEE London Mela 2016 - 

Bollywood Celebrity Radio Presenter Anushka Arora!

 

Anushka presents a daily show on Sunrise Radio 12-4pm. With all the latest showbiz news direct from the hub of Hindi Cinema, Mumbai. Anushka became the first British Asian radio presenter to broadcast live from the Bigg Boss house in India, earlier this year. She was also seen in Madrid, Spain rubbing shoulders with the stars at this years IIFA Awards. Anushka is also a TV presenter and a Voiceover Artist who loves to dance and travel the world.

The Lyca Mobile Community Stage - hosted by the inimitable Jay Kumar - will have a full day schedule packed with dance showcases & classes, bands, DJs and singers.

Jay Kumar is a renowned Bollywood Choreographer, Dance Entertainer and has Hosted the Community Stage for over 10 years. Jay recently appeared on BBC’s Don’t Tell the Bride as Choreographer for Harry and Rosa’s Big Bollywood wedding in Brighton. His unique style and charisma makes him a big crowd favourite with the ability to entice large numbers of people of all ages and abilities to participate in his fun

DJ Nish 

DJ Nish is one of the most experienced and talented Asian female DJ's in the UK, whose unique musical talent is the perfect addition to any event. She has DJ'd for crowds of thousands at shows such as Nottingham Mela, and hosted popular events including the 'Under the Stars' summer event in Newham. A presenter on East London's Nu Sound Radio by day, Nish hosts the drive time show, taking over the airwaves at the busiest time of day.
